Situation

During a period of mergers and acquisitions, incoming teams were met with an inconsistent onboarding experience. The lack of structure slowed integration, created confusion around people practices, and risked undermining the cohesion needed for successful organisational change.

Task

My role was to design a structured onboarding approach that would standardise the experience for new hires across the organisation and meaningfully reduce time-to-productivity during a critical period of transition.

Action

I developed five onboarding toolkits covering key areas including systems, culture, processes and key contacts, ensuring new hires had clear, accessible guidance from day one. I worked closely alongside the HR team to embed these toolkits into the formal onboarding programme, making the approach sustainable and scalable beyond the M&A period.

Result

The structured onboarding programme created a consistent and cohesive experience for incoming teams, reducing friction during integration and supporting a 30% reduction in ramp-up time. The toolkits became embedded within the organisation's formal HR processes, extending their impact beyond the immediate M&A context.
